Somfy RTS Motor Programming Instructions: How to Set Limits

Welcome to this guide for the initial programming of Somfy RTS motors and controllers.
These instructions are suitable for all Somfy RTS controls and are intended for programming the Somfy motors listed in this video.

Please be aware that Somfy motors ship in factory mode without set limits or programmed controls.

Before you begin:

  • Verify that the motorized shade is installed in a window and power is connected only to the motor being programmed.
  • If multiple motors are connected and powered in the same circuit, you should contact an electrician.
  • Please keep in mind that the motor will exit programming mode, and the shade will jog after two and a half minutes of inactivity. If that happens, start from the beginning (step 1) and repeat the process.
  • A "jog" is a brief up and down movement of your motorized product.

Step 1: Initiate Programming

  • Press and hold the UP and DOWN button simultaneously to enter program mode. The shade will jog up and down.

Step 2: Verify Direction: Make sure the UP button opens the shade, and the DOWN button closes it. This will ensure all controls function properly.

  • To verify the direction of operation, press and hold the DOWN button. If the shade goes up, you must reverse the direction.
  • To reverse direction, press and hold the MY button until the shade jogs.
    • Note: When setting up a DecoFlex, press the STOP button instead of the MY button throughout the process.
  • To confirm proper direction, press and hold the DOWN button again. If the shade moves downward, then proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Setting End Limits

  • Press and hold the UP button to bring the shade to the desired upper limit position.
    • Note: If the motor stops moving before reaching the desired position, release the button, then press and hold again until you reach desired position.
  • Simultaneously, press and hold the MY/STOP and DOWN buttons until the shade starts to move, then release the buttons. Briefly press the MY/STOP button to stop the shade when the desired lower limit is reached.
  • If needed, use the UP or DOWN button to fine tune the limit position.
  • Simultaneously, press and hold the MY/STOP and UP button until the shade starts to move, then release the buttons. The shade will return to the previously set upper limit unless it is stopped.
  • Press and hold the MY/STOP button until you get a shade jog. This action will confirm your limit settings.

To complete programming:

  • Briefly press the programming button (prog) on the back of the controller with a pen or pointed tool. With the DecoFlex, press into the small hole next to the DOWN arrow. The shade will jog briefly to indicate that it is no longer in programming mode.

The shade is now programmed and in end user mode, ready to use and enjoy. Press the up or down button to operate the shade.
